Photographing another creative is always an interesting collaboration. There is already a visual language to work with: the colours they choose, the objects around them, the way they dress, and the environment they have created for themselves.
For this portrait session with a Montreal designer, I wanted the photographs to feel polished without becoming too corporate. Rather than separating her from her work, we incorporated elements of her creative world into the images, creating a mix of portraits and personal branding photographs that feel connected to what she does.
I always approach personal branding photography a little differently depending on the person. A designer doesn’t need the same photographs as a lawyer or an executive. The goal is to create images that are professional, but still leave room for personality, individuality and the visual identity behind the work.
For creatives, artists and entrepreneurs, a branding session can include a combination of headshots, environmental portraits, details and wider images. Together, they create a library of photographs that can be used across a website, social media, press features and other communications.
